Verdict on Erebus: An Airline's Dilemma (paperback)
Author(s): Peter Mahon
Antarctica & the Sub-Antarctic
Secondhand.
Just about everyone in NZ knew someone or knew someone who knew someone who was one this flight - Flight 901 which on a sightseeing journey from Auckland to Christchurch flew straight into the snow-covered Mount Erebus - which eerily means darkness - with the loss of all 257 people on board.
Royal Commissioner Peter Mahon was appointed to investigate the causes of the World's fourth-worst air disaster. His account of the inquiry reads like a fast-moving contemporary detective story. The story of this tragedy still is controversial and is in the psyche of all New Zealanders.
Good. Crease to the cover and some pages are marked and fading.
