During the winter of 1916, I was teaching at Okukari and while there was a whaling correspondent for the Marlborough Express. Terry's war story has been taken from the diary of a returned soldier. The accounts of Cook's visits to Queen Charlotte Sound have been gleaned from Sir Joseph Banks in New Zealand edited by Morrell, and The Journals of Captain James Cook edited by Beaglehole.
