Accomplished mountaineer Peter Hillary, Sir Edmund Hillary’s son, describes a year in Nepal, partly helping his father with Himalayan Trust work on bridge and school hostel construction, before going on to make attempts on Kusum Kang and Ama Dablam. The latter attempt ended in disaster as Peter and three companions were hit by an avalanche, with Peter suffering serious injuries and his friend Ken Hyslop being killed. Peter Hillary’s first book.
