The idea of driving a car around the world had often entered David Harford's mind, but it was not until he met an attractive Australian girl that the dream started becoming a reality. Had they known then the complications and mishaps that lay ahead, a sea passage to England might have seemed more sensible.

With two companions they start the obstacle course in Singapore. From there they travelled westward through steaming jungles, high Himalayan valleys, bleak sub-zero Afghanistan to Persia. The story builds to an exciting climax in South America where the quartet strive against tie, shipping schedules and manyana to see as much of this huge continent as their tiring station wagon will allow.

Four New Zealanders spend two years driving around the world in the late sixties in a Ford Falcon.
