Annapurna is a mountain in the Himalayas. It is the first 8000 metre peak to be climbed- the highest summit yet attained. With the name of Annapurna will for ever be associated with the names of the members of the french expedition which with almost superhuman exertion and endurance made mountaineering history. The story of the expedition is here told by its leader, Maurice Herzog, who was one of the two climbers to reach the great objective.
