This book in no way sets out to be a biography, though there are many people in its pages who may well warrant closer attention in that regard. 

However, the personalities of each of the authors is well painted in their own writings. There must be a fascination in reading them, rather than reading about them. No claim is made for great literary skills, but the often earthy recording is disclosure enough for most reader's appetites.
