The Spectator was a daily publication that ran between 1711 to 1712 spanning 555 numbered editions.  Founded by Joseph Addison, and Richard Steele (who was also involved in the earlier Tatler), the paper was collected into seven volumes, of which this copy is the third.

Original quarter leather binding intact, but loosening in some areas.  Boards heavily bumped and worn. Title page is torn and soiled, and bears the pen inscription John John Gibson.  Indiscriminate pencils marks throughout.
