A narrative of the establishment of Christianity on the islands of New Zealand.  Williams was a trained Church Missionary Society cleric, who came to New Zealand in 1826.  He quickly found special skills as a Te Reo Maori translator, and was involved in producing translations of the bible.  Later in 1844 he published a dictionary of New Zealand Language. In 1859 he became bishop of Waiapu.
