Author description

First exhibited at the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu in 2010, Roger Boyce’s paintings reimagine the history of painting as a tragicomedy packed with stunts, mishaps and wild endeavors. Born Denver, CO, USA, Boyce is the senior lecturer in painting at Canterbury University in Christchurch. He has exhibitited in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Christchurch and Paris, and his work is represented in the collections of numerous institutions such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Christchurch Art Gallery, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington DC, New York University, the University Art Museum and University of California at Berkeley.
