The work of Joseph Zachariah has a charm and fascination all of its own - especially when it comes to reflecting social customs during the first decade of the 20th century. There were two things that shaped Zachariah's career as a photographer - first there was the pomp and ceremony of events in Wellington such as New Zealand being declared a Dominion in 1907. Coinciding with these times, the ubiquitous postcard made its appearance and began to enthrall everyone as something that was eminently collectible.
